Carpe Noctis

Part vaudeville, part late-night theater, part sideshow—that's a lot of parts, we suppose. But how else can we categorize Carpe Noctis, the four-weekend-long fest that advertises itself with knife throwing and R-rated children's theater? It's a revolving door of indescribable short shows spread across four theaters at the Complex in Hollywood. Rather than buying a ticket for a particular show, you're basically paying admission to an entire night of 10–30-minute performances. Though you won't know the lineup in advance, anticipate an absolutely bananas assortment of performances: Back Alley Kung Fu, Salty + Sweet Magic Show, Oh Yes! Burlesque!, Live Game Show (For Horrible People), The Suicidal Mime, Breakdance Combat and more.

Well intentioned but extremely unorganized. We waiting 30 mins for it to start and tons of time between acts. And out of 4/5 there were only a couple that would hold their weight. One of the acts was get people to play cards of humanity on stage!?! While they tried to laugh it up, it was all too obvious that they didn't have anything together and perhaps a bunch of acts canceled. The verdict: fun idea. But in reality not worth the time and money - but if you go try the ruby door... They at least had what I heard was some interesting acts even if they were not well done.
