Day of the Dog

Plenty of Angelenos take their dogs to street fairs, but what about an event specifically for your furry friend? Enter the Day of the Dog, a free fest that claims to be North America’s largest pet festival. Located on Main Street in Santa Monica (between Ocean Park Boulevard and Strand Avenue), the event features dozens of pet-centric vendors and lots of dog-friendly attractions, including races, a pool party and a Halloween costume contest, plus photo ops and yoga with pups. This year, Day of the Dog coincides with the larger Main Street Block Party, which offers live music, a beer garden, a car show, kids’ activities and even free mini cupcakes—and dog treats.
