Time Out says

Make like Ariel and take a ferry over to Catalina Island for its inaugural mermaid- and ocean-themed arts festival along Crescent Avenue. The programming sounds like every little girl’s dream: You can take mermaid tours and “swim with a mermaid” at Lover’s Cove, build your own mermaid tail in the sand and get glammed up at a mermaid makeover station. There’ll also be a beachside screening Saturday night of—what else—The Little Mermaid on South Beach. Grown-ups can enjoy a beer garden and live music (Sat 4–7pm) and a mermaid-themed paint and sip class (Sun 2–4pm), as well as shopping at over a dozen ocean-themed artist booths.
