Americafest at the Rose Bowl is an explosive celebration of all things red, white and blue—from the classic American food, to a motorcycle stunt show, to the world-renowned fireworks display. The fireworks won't shoot off until 9pm, but the Rose Bowl will open at 2pm Independence Day, at which time access to a goldmine of inflatable rides, games and crafts will be available for kid-friendly fun. Parking for the event will cost $20, but you can make it worth your while with an afternoon of tailgaiting outside the stadium.

My first time to the AmericaFEST at the Rose Bowl and it was a very worthwhile event. I loved the program and the fireworks were the best I had ever seen.
My only real critique was the sound system sucked thus making it even more awkward for the concert artists (The Liverpool Legends, a very good Beatles tribute band, but really for Americas Birthday you are going to have a British band perform :/ ) The sound was so poor that while the performers broke into a rendition of "Yesterday" the stadium started to do the wave, since it was an acoustic ballad, that no one could hear and people wanted to be loud and raucous not solemn and thoughtful. So the Stadium did the Wave during the performance of the solemn and moving song Yesterday.
That being said I plan on returning next year. Hopefully they will have addressed the sound issues by then.
Been going to this event my whole life and I must say, it is the best thing to do with your family on a wonderful day
