This multi-sensory haunt from Bone Yard Effects unfurls via a short film (which you can watch online) followed by an on-site virtual reality experience. It culminates in real life inside the Black House, a sprawling Victorian home. Oh, and scaredy cats beware: You must enter all alone.
I haven't seen a lot of advertising for this haunted attraction but ran across it on the Fairplex's website so decided to check it out and so glad I did. This was, hands down, the best haunted house I've been to ever. I've done the traditional Knott's Scary Farm, Universal's Halloween Horror Nights, Queen Mary's Dark Harbor as well as some other random haunted houses, but INTO THE DARK surpassed all of them. Going in by myself definitely made the experience more creepier and had me on edge the whole way through the maze. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the "monsters" in the maze were great! They definitely scared the beejezus out of me, I screamed so loud my throat was sore after the maze, lol. The scenes set up through the maze were great, I especially loved the quija board and the bedroom scene. The "creatures" makeup and costumes were amazing! Definitely put a thought of thought and creativity into the costumes, A++!!. The whole experience was great, the length of the maze was decent, pretty long in my opinion, and definitely worth it. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good scare! I'm hoping they come back to the Fairplex next year because I will definitely be back!!
