It’s not just for big-budget action scenes: The L.A. River is a staple in smaller-scale productions, too, and you can see a sampling of films during this fest from Friends of the L.A River. Swing by L.A. State Historic Park for open-air screenings of short films that speak to environmental justice and stories about the L.A. River. The signature FoLAR event also includes a story slam, art and education activities, food drucks, drinks a DJ and booths from more than 20 local vendors and organizations. Admission is free, but tickets are required.
