With L.A. Pride’s move out of West Hollywood and into Hollywood, and the arrival of WeHo Pride in the former city, L.A. is now lucky enough to have two inclusive festivals celebrating the city’s LGBTQ+ community.

Confused by the difference between the two? Don’t worry, we’ll break down everything you need to know about L.A. Pride, WeHo Pride and each event’s Pride Parade—and even more major Pride Month events—plus our favorite party spots for divas and drag queens alike.

When is L.A. Pride 2024?

L.A. Pride returns on Saturday, June 8, 2024 with a concert, L.A. Pride in the Park, that features a headlining set from Ricky Martin at L.A. State Historic Park. The following day, Sunday, June 9, the L.A. Pride Parade will step off in Hollywood, where you’ll also find a block party.

When is the L.A. Pride Parade?

The L.A. Pride Parade occurs on Sunday, June 9 in Hollywood, at the site of the first permitted gay parade in the world (back in 1970). The parade is staged along Hollywood Boulevard, Highland Avenue and Cahuenga Boulevard, and starts at 11am. This year’s grand marshals include actor George Takei, wrestler Cassandro, El Exótico and Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Kristin Crowley.

Following the parade, you’ll find live entertainment, local vendors and food and drinks along Hollywood Boulevard at the mid-day Parade Block Party.

See all of the details, including street closures, in our full guide to the L.A. Pride Parade.

Where can I watch the parade?

The parade steps off at Sunset Boulevard and Highland Avenue and heads north on Highland before turning east onto Hollywood Boulevard. From there, it follows Hollywood until it turns south onto Cahuenga Boulevard, before wrapping up back at Sunset.

You’ll be able to watch from the sidewalk, and expect just about every restaurant and bar with a patio to host special seatings on the morning of the parade. Also, the parade route sits along two Metro stops, Hollywood/Highland and Hollywood/Vine.

What’s WeHo Pride? And when is it?

Though Christopher Street West may have moved L.A. Pride east, West Hollywood still holds its own celebration on the former site of the event. WeHo Pride will take place May 31 through June 2, 2024 in and around West Hollywood Park (647 N San Vicente Blvd).

Just like the city’s previous editions of L.A. Pride, WeHo Pride will feature an all-weekend music fest dubbed OUTLOUD that includes performances from Kylie Minogue, Janelle Monáe and Diplo. That follows a free night of music on Friday from Kesha and Adam Lambert, among others.

The weekend’s musical lineup coincides with the free WeHo Pride Street Fair along Santa Monica Boulevard, between Hancock and La Per, on Saturday and Sunday (noon–8pm). In addition, you’ll find the Women’s Freedom Festival (noon–6pm) and Dyke March (6–6:30pm) on Saturday, June 1.

When is the WeHo Pride Parade?

On Sunday, June 2, WeHo Pride will hold a parade (which this year honors Cyndi Lauper as a Lifetime Ally Icon) that starts at Santa Monica Boulevard and North Crescent Heights Boulevard at noon, and heads west on Santa Monica to North La Peer Drive (just past the park).

Between L.A. Pride and WeHo Pride, if you’re wondering which is the Pride event for L.A.: Since they’re held on separate weekends, there’s no reason for to pit one against the other—so why not attend both?
