Time Out says

Celebrate the relighting of the 1939 neon Union Theatre marquee as the Velaslavasay Panorama hosts a daytime street fest and evening reception in its honor. The free daytime portion kicks off outside with a city dedication, followed by animation workshops from the Echo Park Film Center, a roller skating demonstration by the LA Rollers and music from DJ Lance Rock. Inside the old movie theater, you'll find puppet shows by the Bob Baker Marionette Theater, cartoon screenings and a neon lecture. Stick around for a ribbon cutting and the ticketed evening program, which includes many of the same performers from earlier as well as taco dinners and a chance to witness the relighting.
