The block of San Vincente between Santa Monica Blvd and Melrose Avenue saw gay and straight supporters alike gather to celebrate equality and the strike down of California's Proposition 8 on Wednesday afternoon. The rally began at 5:30pm with signs and flags aplenty, as teams of volunteers passed out posters and small flags with the now recognizable equals sign that has become the symbol in the fight for LGBT rights. Outnumbering the flags and signs were the smiles, hugs and cheers from the crowd as this community gathered to recognize the triumphant day.
