Six must-dos at Skyspace

Take a slip with a thrill

1. Take a slip with a thrill

Skyslide is a glass slide suspended 1,000 feet above Downtown Los Angeles. Starting on the US Bank Tower’s 70th floor and depositing sliders out onto the open-air observation deck one floor below, Skyslide is not for the faint of heart (or the acrophobic); 1 ¼-inch-thick clear glass is all that separates you from the ground along the 45-foot long, four-foot wide slide.

2. Touch the city’s scene

You’ll find yourself immersed in Skyspace before you’ve even seen the view, thanks to the interactive screens that welcome you into the space. These displays give you a look into the creative side of L.A., revealing stories about the city that even locals don’t know about. Walk through an immersive experience that explores the iconic films and TV series that call Los Angeles home, discover the genre-defining musicians who started their careers in L.A., and hear memorable stories from sports personalities that will impress any fan.

3. Sightsee with discovery

Once you arrive at the top, interactive screens will present little-known facts to complement that skyline view.  These seven displays set the magnificent terrace apart, giving you the keys to discover more about what you’re seeing. No need to play “what’s that building,” with a simple tap, start your journey by swiping through L.A. landmarks within your view. You’ll hear about the history of each building, narrated by some voices you might find familiar. Once you’ve got the lay of the land, step out onto the terrace and take in the view from the top. You can even take a City Highlights Tour, daily, where a guide from Skyspace will talk you through the sights.

4. Taste the local spirit

What’s a rooftop view without a drink in hand? The Skyspace Bar is fully stocked, featuring locally crafted spirits, beers and wines. For those particularly into suds, the bar offers a Skyflight of four beers from nearby breweries. Feeling peckish? The bar offers small plates from cheeses and charcuterie to salads and sandwiches —and of course, a few sweet treats as well.

Flow with a view

5. Flow with a view

We can’t think of a better place to clear your mind than 1,000 feet above the fray. Skyspace offers early-morning yoga classes and meditations on the open-air terrace, like a sunrise flow class taught by SoHo Yoga featuring complimentary reiki healing; a musical R&B-themed late morning class complete with post-flow mimosa, or a 6am guided meditation by the DEN. Seal in your sunrise practice with a trip or two down the Skyslide—unlimited rides are included with all classes.

6. Celebrate an occasion

More into parties? Skyspace offers plenty of opportunities to celebrate. Bring the kids along for family fun-day every weekend from 10am till 2pm,  or catch a live jazz courtesy of the Pablo Suñé Jazz quartet every other Tuesday. Skyspace even has Mother’s Day covered with a buffet brunch and on the 70th floor featuring a string quartet and lovely photo ops . A ride on the Skyslide is the perfect gift for mom, right?
