Ready to take a trip to the Upside Down? Sure, it may require a run-in with a Demogorgon, but any true fan of Stranger Things is going to be willing to risk it if it means being able to be the hero in an all-new adventure based off the hit Netflix series.

Stranger Things: The Experience has arrived in Los Angeles, and although immersive events are popping up everywhere these days, this one is more than just projections on a screen or a series of Instagram-centric photo opps (although, trust that there are plenty of epic backdrops to fill your feed!). There are two things that truly set this particular experience apart. First, it thrives on audience participation. No passive meandering from exhibit to exhibit: you’ll instead be thrown headfirst into a very special episode—one in which you get the starring role! And, second, this storyline has been developed exclusively with Matt and Ross Duffer—the show's creators—for this experience only.

But you won’t have to go it alone. This brand-new Stranger Things event—co-produced by Netflix and Fever, the company behind a number of other experiential destinations—allows you to join Eleven, Dustin, Mike, Lucas, Max and Will (OK, and a visit from Vecna… we warned you) for an unforgettably good time. So, considering the Rift is now open, read on for a sneak peek at what you’ll encounter. (If you’re already counting the minutes until you get there, you can buy your tickets right here, right now!)

You’ll go on an interactive journey through Hawkins Lab and into the Upside Down

The main attraction of Stranger Things: The Experience is the initial 45-minute interactive experience. The premise? Hawkins Lab, the secretive federal complex known for its, ahem, controversial experiments, is inviting you to participate in a new study. Once you volunteer as a test subject, you’ll take center stage in an exclusive Stranger Things storyline. Collaborate with your fellow participants to complete different tasks, unlock your supernatural powers in order to influence your surroundings, and enjoy incredible special effects that put you in the middle of the action.

Throughout it all, you’ll get to interact with in-character actors who will pop up in videos and, thanks to enhanced 3D technology, in some other surprising forms.

You’ll soak up all the ’80s nostalgia

Considering most immersive experiences max out at the 45-minute mark, Stranger Things fans will appreciate that the fun is far from over after the Hawkins Lab adventure. Like any good binge, participants can stick around as long as they like thanks to the neon world of Mix-Tape. A radical throwback to the ’80s, this is the place for delicious themed foods and exclusive specialty cocktails inspired by the series. There’s plenty of Stranger Things–branded merchandise to go around, and, of course, plenty of ’80s tunes to keep the party going.

You’ll snag some epic selfies

No immersive experience is complete without documenting it, and Stranger Things: The Experience has no shortage of fun, new, one-of-a-kind photo opps. Take pics beneath the iconic alphabet all lit up in Christmas lights in the Byers’ living room, snap selfies in a tubular photo booth, or even get photobombed by (you really should have guessed it…) Vecna.

You’ll see jaw-dropping sets

Just 15 minutes from downtown Los Angeles and covering 37,000 square feet in Montebello, the venue for Stranger Things: The Experience is immense, which helps bring the wild world of Stranger Things to life in a brand-new way. Life-size recreations of iconic series locations and show sets—including the Lab and Rainbow Room—allow participants to fully immerse in their interactive experiences. Meanwhile, fan-favorite backdrops such as Palace Arcade, Scoops Ahoy and Surfer Boy Pizza make the Mix-Tape space seem like a time machine straight into the 1980s.

If you’re a fan of Stranger Things—and let’s be honest, who isn’t?!—this is a can’t miss event. Whether you’re flying solo or going with your Stranger Things group of fan friends, you’ll have a blast at this new, unique, immersive experience with everything it has to offer. So, what are you waiting for? Get your tickets now to save Hawkins before the portal closes for good!
