Time Out says

Nothing says summer quite like biting into a juicy watermelon on a hot day, and there’s no better place to do just that than at the 65th annual California Watermelon Festival in the San Fernando Valley. Guests can enjoy an unlimited amount of ice-cold watermelon, plus both sweet and savory watermelon dishes—deep-fried watermelon, anyone?—available for purchase at the Hansen Dam Soccer Fields. There will also be plenty of attractions to enjoy, like carnival rides, a petting zoo, car show, live watermelon carving, live music and more. The festival pays tribute to the time when the Valley was abundant with watermelons, so gather everyone together and tip your hat to summer’s best fruit.
