The 2014 Manchester Science Festival is packed with events for all ages and is designed to get people to enjoy a huge range of scientific subjects. This year you can find everything from experiments to find out what makes you like a musical hook, to dresses of glass with flames burning within, to screenings of classic films plus debates (anyone for fracking?), family activities and loads more. Produced by the Museum of Science and Industry and supported by Siemens, the festival has loads going on and you can find events at venues across Manchester. Alien and Prometheus Double Bill

Quite simply one of the greatest films ever made, 'Alien' remains Ridley Scott's masterpiece and is still as gripping, terrifying and thrilling as it was back in '79. This event offers a rare chance to see it on a big screen accompanied by its prequel of sorts, 'Prometheus'. Showing at MOSI on Halloween at 7pm, it's just £12.50 for the double bill.
