Downtown Montreal is transforming into a roller-skating playground packed with fun, music, and good vibes this weekend.
Kick things off with a beginner-friendly skate session hosted by boutique Lowlife MTL—gear and guidance provided, totally free.
Then, lace up for Saturday night’s high-energy roller disco, featuring dance moves by the Skate with Marly crew and beats by DJ Plastik Patrik that’ll keep the esplanade grooving.

On Sunday, don’t miss the adrenaline-pumping roller derby demo as Montreal Roller Derby teams hit the track for a friendly face-off full of action.
It’s a weekend of gliding, grooving, and grinning to celebrate spring in the Quartier des Spectacles on the Esplanade Tranquille.
Thirsty and worked up an appetite? Esplanade Tranquille is just a few blocks from Time Out Market Montréal, and a slew of other amazing restaurants and stellar bars in downtown Montreal.

When is the giant roller skating party?
Hit the Esplanade Tranquile on May 10, 2025, at 7 p.m. and get ready to boogie on wheels!
This roller dance party is open to everyone—whether you're a total pro or just figuring out how to stop without crashing.
Glide, spin, or wobble your way across the floor to the best throwback hits in a super fun, feel-good atmosphere.
The fabulous Skate with Marly roller dance school will turn up the heat with high-energy routines inspired by the grooviest decades.
So go ahead—lace up, throw on your best '70s sparkle, '80s neon, '90s grunge, or Y2K glam, and roll back through time!
When are the free roller skating lessons?
The Lowlife boutique will be helping visitors take their first steps on skates on May 10 and May 11, 2025.
Their skating experts offer lessons for beginners, and equipment is available (in limited quantities) and on loan free of charge.
The public is encouraged to bring their own protective gear (helmet and knee/wrist/elbow protectors).

When is the roller derby show?
Don’t miss the Montreal Roller Derby League on May 11, 2025, at 4 p.m. on the Esplanada Tranquille.
Founded in 2006 by Georgia W. Tush, MTLRD has rolled its way to the top of the Canadian roller derby scene.
Today, the league is home to three fierce local teams, a powerhouse B team (Les Sexpos de Montréal), and the legendary A team (Les New Skids on the Block).
Catch the action at Esplanade Tranquille as the A and B teams go head-to-head in a friendly outdoor showdown—fast-paced, full of flair, and bursting with that signature MTLRD mix of fierce competition and all-welcome vibes.
