A prominent feature of the parkside skyline since 1931, the Essex House became part of Dubai-based international hotel group Jumeirah (the folks behind the famous sail-shaped Burj Al Arab) in 2006. A hotel-wide revamp brought high-tech in-room gadgets and contemporary-classic decor loosely inspired by the building's Art Deco past.
