Anicka Yi, "Divorce"

Yi describes this show as "examining the forensics of loss and separation," and her poetical objects do convey a sense of longing and disconnect by evoking sensory or emotional experiences related to memory. A pair of dryer doors set into the wall open to emanate various smells, while live snails crawl along the inside of cardboard boxes. Meaning here is as open-ended as it is mysterious, which is to be expected from an artist who once created an installation of flowers fried in tempura batter.
