Athanasios Argianas, “Swimmer’s Arms Are Oars”

Though the works here by this Greek artist based in London are part of his continuing series of his “Song Machine,” they neither move nor make any kind of sound. Rather, they consist of slender metal rods bent into upright forms that vaguely resemble frames for tubular steel chairs. These are then draped with strands of ribbon that, while made of brass and etched with the artist’s written texts, hang with the suppleness of magnetic tape.
