Carl Andre

Controversy still clings to the sculptor Carl Andre, who was tried and acquitted for the 1985 death of his wife, artist Ana Mendieta. His work, though, remains valued for its pioneering role in formulating Minimalist aesthetics starting in the late ’50s. This show, which selects pieces created over a 30-year period, is meant to complement a major Andre retrospective at Dia:Beacon.
