For his first exhibition in the United States, the Brazilian artist creates an elliptical labyrinth using translucent fabric curtains hanging from the ceiling as walls. The visually layered space that results is given a sonic counterpart in the form of a soundtrack produced by microphones hung at different heights around the installation. Each day they continuously record ambient sounds in the gallery, which are then played back the following day. The daily recordings will be superimposed, one on top of the other, as the exhibition progresses. Carvalhosa has also arranged for periodic musical performances within the piece by American composer Philip Glass and members of his ensemble.
