Charles Sandison, Body Text

The backstory to this exhibition involves the artist's studio in a remote part of Finland, where a winter power outage forced him to temporarily give up his usual computer-generated practice for traditional figure studies done with live females models—who posed, apparently, by candlelight. This show brings it all back home, with a series of LCD monitors on which the viewer can see these efforts reworked as digital codes that shift and turn, to create algorithmic versions of the women Sandison drew.
