Chie Fueki

Born in Japan, raised in Brazil and schooled in Yale's M.F.A. program, Fueki creates paintings that seem like a stylistic mash-up of ukiyo-e and carnival in Rio. Her latest show features nearly life-size full-body likenesses of friends, but like most of her work, they devolve into a riot of patterns and torqued perspectives.
