Douglas Gordon, Phantom

This installation by Gordon coincides with the one at the Park Avenue Armory and is likewise a collaboration with a musician—this time, Rufus Wainwright. The piece consists of a video and sculpture. The former involves a tight close-up of Wainwright's weeping eye, which is blackened with makeup. The latter consists of one piano positioned over the burnt remains of another. Gordon describes the piece as a "sonic and visual requiem."
