"Elizabeth Murray: Painting in the ’70s"

This is the gallery's first exhibition of Murray's work since the noted painter's death in 2007, and includes 30 oils created between 1970 and 1980—a decade when the medium had been declared dead thanks to the emergence of Conceptual Art. That Murray, however, didn't get the memo is evidenced by these canvases, featuring her vibrantly colored, exuberantly loopy takes on both geometric abstraction and painterly gesture.
