Alÿs, a Belgian-born artist who's lived and worked in Mexico City since 1986, is the subject of concurrent shows here and at the Museum of Modern Art. Although the latter features a range of the artist's videos, film installations and paintings, the focus here is on a 2002 performance, Modern Procession, which he organized in conjunction with MoMA's temporary move to Queens while its midtown home underwent expansion. Led by a Peruvian brass band, members of the procession marched across the East River carrying reproductions of works from MoMA's collection. The festivities are recalled by a two-channel video and by the artist's preparatory drawings for the event.
