George Platt Lynes

Though well known for his editorial production (fashion layouts, celebrity portraits) and Surrealist-influenced art photography, this mid-20th-century photographer also created dramatically lit images of male nudes; given the sexual strictures of the time, they were known only to the artist's friends and admirers. The selection here includes previously unseen examples printed from negatives conserved in cold storage at the Kinsey Institute, which is home to the George Platt Lynes Archive.
