Gereon Krebber, "CONTRARY DATA"

This Cologne artist, who once studied under British sculptor Tony Cragg, shares with his erstwhile teacher an approach to form that hovers between abstraction and representation, and between Minimalism and Expressionism. Krebber, however, appears to go in more for the creepy and gothic: This show, for instance, includes a cryptlike sculpture created with bricks collected from empty lots around the gallery.
