"German Expressionism: The Graphic Impulse"

Time Out says

This show of 250 works by 30 artists culled from MoMA's collection examines the key role that printmaking played for artists associated with the Expressionist movement in Germany during the first decades of the 20th century—a period of deep historical and cultural upheaval. The stark quality of line afforded by such mediums as etching and woodcuts was well-suited to the themes of urban alienation, sexual decadence and search for order that characterized the art of that time and place. On view will be contributions from a wide range of talents including Emil Nolde, Otto Dix and Käthe Kollwitz.
