Guillermo Kuitca, “Paintings 2008-2010, Le Sacre 1992”

To inaugurate its new location, Sperone Westwater presents a show by this Argentine artist, for whom maps have long been a theme. A room full of painted mattresses constitutes Le Sacre; these are finally installed in their ideal, vertical configuration in the gallery’s Moving Room, which shifts between the second and third floors of the space. New paintings combine representations of geography with abstraction to complete this impressive show.
