Jaya Howey, "Note to Self"

Ranging from abstracted patterns to compositions resembling game boards or the puzzles from kids' menus, Howey's black-and-white paintings are rendered in a Deco-ish style reminiscent of cartoons from the 1920s or ’30s. But the content, which appears to evoke existential dead ends, is certainly up-to-date.
