Jene Highstein, "New Sculpture: Towers and Elliptical Forms"

Highstein's brand of reductively abstract sculpture is roughly contemporaneous with Richard Serra's, but his use of eccentrically configured forms—evoking saucers, eggs or mounds—has always made him stand out from the post-Minimalist pack. The works in this show include pieces that recall tapering columns and vaselike shapes.
