"Joan Mitchell: The Last Paintings"

These works date from 1985–1992, the last decade of Mitchell's life, when the noted Abstract Expressionist was living in the country outside of Paris. Though the paintings are rendered in the artist's signature gestural style, the overall form and color scheme of the compositions—which sometimes evoke vivid blossoms in a garden—reflect her engagement with nature and the landscape around her.
