This veteran abstractionist, who for the past 30 years has divided his time between New York and his native Spain, is known for intense, chromatic compositions applied in thin layers of translucent color. The lyrical appeal of his work, however, is often belied by labyrinthine arrangements of forms that convey an uncomfortable sensation of being lost, or as the Spanish title of this show suggests, displaced.
