Time Out says

This focused exhibition, organized in conjunction with the Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C., revolves around the 1913 canvas inspired by Kandinsky's trip to his native Russia from Munich, where he lived and worked at the time. It was one of the artist's first forays into near-abstraction, and it is joined here by the various studies that led up to the painting's completion.
