Lin Tianmiao, Badges

In this installation comprising the artist's gallery debut, various slang expressions for women—diva, cougar, dyke, ho, gold digger, beauty queen—are embroidered in English and Chinese on pieces of fabric stretched over metal hoops. There are 60 such elements in all, dangling from the ceiling at varying heights while an audio recitation of the same words plays in the space.
