Lisa Cooley (CLOSED)
Time Out says
Friendly warning! We're working hard to be accurate. But these are unusual times, so please check that venues remain open.
Formerly director of Houston's Mixture Gallery and Nicole Klagsbrun in Chelsea, Lisa Cooley opened her shop in 2008, and quickly established herself as one of the nabe's go-to gallerists. Her roster of artists seems to share a penchant for Conceptualist sleight-of-hand, mixed with unexpected materials—most notably Erin Shirreff's "moonrock" photos (actually images of hand-fashioned clay blobs) and Josh Faught's fiber-art sculptures made from woven afghans, garden trellises and nail polish.
