Keegan, whose brand of Neo-Conceptual art focuses on the role that archives and other documentary forms in shaping history and memory, shifts his attention to New York City. Among the works are a series of photos depicting ordinary New Yorkers (a cop, a Con Ed worker), as well as details of urban life (manhole covers, pigeons). Also on view: abstract folded-metal sculptures painted the range of colors—Parks Department green, safety yellow, etc.—used for the city's infrastructure. The show is accompanied by the artist's interview with Milton Glaser, the designer of the I Love New York logo, as well as a limited-edition book titled A History of New York, inspired by the Ric Burns film of the same name.
