The photographs and films of this Israeli-born London artist can seem straightforward, but they are usually layered with meanings and memories existing outside the frame. For example, photos of cherry blossoms —taken on a extended trip through Japan—were inspired by research the artist had undertaken for a film about Japanese kamikaze pilots: He discovered that cherry blossoms figured prominently into the ceremonies sending the flyers on their one-way missions.
