“Pipilotti Rist: Pixel Forest”

Time Out says

This Swiss video artist emerged in the 1980s with provocative single-channel productions featuring female subjects committing various social transgressions (a women walking down the street, smashing car windows, for example, an image later appropriated by Beyoncé), but in recent decades, her work has evolved into trippy, immersive, 360-degree installations backed by hypnotic soundtracks. This show is her first comprehensive retrospective in New York.

I saw it in Houston TX....

It takes your breath away...

You don’t want to leave....

I have never experienced peace like I did that day.

Glad to see it will be in NYC when I will be visiting. It’s worth another view!!!

Let me try to focus on this particular exhibit instead of the museum as a whole because that's a very different review. The Pixel forest was extremely well done - like it looked like a legitimate forest with the changing light colors, the light placement, the material used to hang the lights, everything. Walking through it felt like some sort of wonderful the cords were very flexible and you never felt like you couldn't interact with the art. That being said this place is also an intsagramers paradise - everywhere I looked people were snapping away but once you got over the instagram-ableness you could really enjoy and soak in the beauty.
