“Pipilotti Rist: Pixel Forest”

This Swiss video artist emerged in the 1980s with provocative single-channel productions featuring female subjects committing various social transgressions (a women walking down the street, smashing car windows, for example, an image later appropriated by Beyoncé), but in recent decades, her work has evolved into trippy, immersive, 360-degree installations backed by hypnotic soundtracks. This show is her first comprehensive retrospective in New York.
