Rachel Whiteread, "Long Eyes"

Time Out says

The artist has long toyed with the notion of positive and negative space as it plays out in sculpture—the way covering something in plaster, for instance, creates a cavity in the exact shape of that object—sometimes to monumental effect. She's cast the interior volume of a small house, and done the same with an institutional library, creating in the process ghostly public cenotaphs to memory (historical in the case of the latter, which serves as Vienna's Holocaust memorial). In this show, Whiteread scales down her efforts a bit, making casts of windows and doors in translucent resin.
