Moskowitz, long associated with the New Image Painting movement of the 1970s, returns with more of his starkly reductive canvases, characterized by silhouetted shapes of recognizable forms. The paintings here were created during a 2004–05 sojourn in Rome, and are arranged in grids to lend a cinematic effect to such subjects as birds in flight, puffs of smoke, and the familiar contours of the Empire State and Flatiron Buildings.
