This French artist who lives and works in New York excels at exquisite works on paper, usually limiting himself to small-scale renderings that result in a certain intensity of effect whether his approach is representational or (as has been the case lately) abstract. Here, Flexner resorts to liquid graphite, and in a first, colored inks to create diaphanous, dreamlike veils that drift across the compositions like billows of smoke or like gaseous nebulae deep in outer space.
