Sandra Cinto, Piece of Silence

The Brazilian artist's finely rendered wall drawings and sculptural objects combine the delicacy of Chinese screen painting with a sensibility that's part surreal and part romantic. In the installation here, bronze wind and white stringed instruments—both overlaid with renderings of water—take the place of notes on a series of musical staffs inscribed directly onto Sheetrock. They follow the waterline left by Sandy when the storm flooded this gallery in 2012.
