Sergey Bratkov, Balaklava Drive

Bratkov possesses the same gimlet eye common to many Russian photographers in the post-Soviet era: He's best known for his controversial portraits of young girls seen smoking or dressed up like hookers. Here, he presents a 2009 installation whose centerpiece is a looping video of young boys jumping into the water from an industrial pier jutting into the Black Sea.
