Titus Kaphar, "Drawing the Blinds"

Kaphar, an African-American painter who often touches on black identity, offers two new bodies of work presented separately, one in each of Shainman's locations. "Drawing the Blinds" delves into the dark, violent and often hidden history of the black experience in America, while "Asphalt and Chalk," a reference to crime-scene outlines of dead victims, deals with the more recent aftermath of police lethality in Ferguson, MO.
