This British painter of elaborate tromp l'oeil disquisitions on surface, texture and color, returns with a modest upgrade on the approach he used for his last outing at this gallery. Once again, he bases his canvases on photos of aluminum foil maquettes, lit different colors to allow plenty of running room for painterly effects. The differences in this show amount to a somewhat larger scale than in his previous toylike paintings, as well as an emphasis on a particular shape: an arch.
