“Alt.Comics: Asian American Artists Reinvent the Comic Book”

5 out of 5 stars
(1user review)
Shown in conjunction with "Marvels & Monsters," a show that looks at Asian stereotypes in classic American comics, "Alt.Comics" rounds up a rich collection of contemporary works executed by Asian Americans themselves. Comic book writers and artists, such as Gene Luen Yang (whose graphic novel American Born Chinese was a National Book Award finalist) and GB Tran (Vietnamerica), contributed original art to the exhibit.

The combined comics exhibit Marvels and Monsters + Alt.Comics was outstanding. It is for anyone with a seasoned interest or just learning about the medium of comics. The work itself, the curation, content, and installation all came together and made me smile the moment I walked in. I recommend taking time with the exhibit. This exhibit + the rest of the museum is worth supporting with the $10 admission. Free Thursdays free & they open until 9? Awesome.
