Urban Park Ranger Anne Reed takes you on a ride through Fort Greene, Bedford-Stuyvesant and Bay Ridge on this tour, pointing out major Underground Railroad stops and sharing tidbits about the storied network. One such notable fact: “Residents would hide runaway slaves in plain sight,” explains Urban Park Rangers supervisor Mara Pendergrass. “That way, if slave hunters came looking for a particular person, 20 people would come out, all fitting the same description.”
