"Eyewitness: Beautiful Black Brooklyn"

Five black photographers, including Larry Brown, Marilyn Nance and Beuford Smith, explore the cultural shifts and social movements shaping Central Brooklyn in the 1960s. See early images of Prospect Park’s Drummer's Grove, a weekly gathering place for percussionists and dancers since 1968, as well as portraits of actress Ruby Dee and Harlem Renaissance artist Jacob Lawrence, among others.
