Time Out says

It took more than three years to transform acres and acres of salt marsh—1,200 acres or so—into a verdant green for the 1939 World's Fair. The Queens Museum, which is housed in one of the few remaining structures constructed for the fair, displays photographs and blueprints documenting the massive undertaking to create "The World of Tomorrow" and the other spectacles.
