LOMEX Remembered walking tour

Meet at the northeast corner of Chrystie and Grand Sts. Subway: D to Grand St, F to Delancey St, J to Delancey–Essex Sts. Architectural historian Matt Postal leads this tour through Little Italy and the Lower East Side, focusing on the proposed route of an eight-lane highway that would have cut through these neighborhoods. Though the plan was drawn up by divisive but powerful urban planner Robert Moses, it was blocked by activist Jane Jacobs in the 1960s.
